Katya Tavitian is a Montreal-based animator, illustrator and sound designer. She graduated with a BFA in Film Animation from Concordia University, where she earned the Sandra and Leo Kolber Scholarship in Cinema in 2023, and produced her short film Irrational (2023), an official selection of Fantasia International Film Festival.
She is a firm believer in the power of storytelling through animation and is determined to use her craft to inspire others to create, just as her inspirations did for her! She considers herself a shape-shifting artist with the ability to adapt and work in genres and mediums that best suit each project. Her personal work is often introspective, exploring themes of identity and nostalgia, and other times indulgent in her multitude of interests including cinema, music, sustainability and philosophy. She loves to create in any shape and form, but has a particular love for character design, visual development, 2D animation, stop-motion, and producing soundscapes to complement the visuals of a project.
She is also passionate about bringing other people's visions to life. So whether it be for a short film or social media, she loves collaborating on projects to make them a reality.
